The D programming language is a much too nice language not to look into. It combines a compact, almost script-like syntax (C-like) with the performance of a compiled language. It makes you more productive by providing safe defaults and an (optional) garbage collector, to avoid memory leaks and other pitfalls common in C/C++, while you can still do anything you want, if you really want (turn of GC, play with pointers etc).
