Okay. I think I have it all figured out. Pine Mountain is about 1.5 hours from Atlanta. We will go to the Animal Safari (open 10am to 6:30pm) and have dinner in "The Plant Room" at Callaway Gardens. For the Safari, we will probably want to rent one of their Vans since the animals roam around and have been known to lick the car. There are 2 options for this trip:

Option 1 - Day Trip
Animal Safari Admission
Animal Safari Van rental
Dinner
Just $50 a person (these numbers may change (decrease) with the # of RSVPs)

Option 2 - Overnight
Animal Safari Admission
Animal Safari Van rental
Dinner
1 night hotel stay at Mountain Creek Inn on Callaways Gardens Property
Just $250 per couple or $200 per single

I have heard a lot of great things about Callaway Gardens and the accommodations. I think I may stay over a night and check out the Gardens on Sunday. Let's carpool to Pine Mountain to save gas and get to know each other.

If you are doing the day trip, please pay $50 by April 12, 2008. If I get the tickets together, we may get a group rate and get money back.

If you are staying overnight, I need $200 or $250 by April 10, 2008 to reserve the room. Hope to see you there!!!! I am really excited about this one.

Located near Callaway Gardens and the town of Warm Springs, this park is deeply rooted in the historical era of four-time President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Seeking a place for treatment after he was stricken with polio in 1921, Roosevelt traveled to nearby Warm Springs and built his Little White House. Several structures within the park, including the stone swimming pool and some cottages, were built by Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. Above Kings Gap is Dowdell's Knob, Roosevelt's favorite picnic spot overlooking a magnificent view of the valley below. Hikers will enjoy the scenic trails in Georgia's largest state park, especially the 23-mile Pine Mountain Trail, which winds through a mix of hardwoods and pines.

Will the azaleas still be blooming by then? They are in bloom now and I was wondering if it would be too late.
