Hi Everyone...and welcome all the newbies as well...News on our next Meetup!!

I've organized a Weekend Sangria meetup for a change. laughing Date is: Saturday, 6th June at Camino bar.
Here's a link: http://www.barcamino....
It's just a 2 minute walk from Kings Cross station, and we'll have a Sangria reception as usual.

I hope to have at least 4 'veterans' who have done a Vaughantown program in either Gredos or Salamanca so you can meet them and ask about about their experiences. Here's a link to a 13-minute documentary video to give you an idea of how the Vaughantown program works: http://ian.vaughantow... ... scroll down and click on the video to check out who the english speakers and Spaniards are!

Programs in June and July are now fully booked, and August is booking up very quickly (that's how popular these programs are!), so if you're interested in a program in August you'll need to apply online on our website below - at least to secure a slot on your chosen program.
To apply, go to the DATES/SIGN UP page on http://ian.vaughantow... ... and please mention MEETUP in your application.

Meet ups are relaxed and laid back, and will basically consist of myself presenting the program and an informal Q&A. We're hoping to have about 4 Vaughantown 'veterans' joining us next Saturday, meet them and put your worries to rest!
People who have been to Vaughantown, you are ALL very welcome to stop by, have a drink and chat to the new members...

Below is the availability for our August programs as of 29th May. Programs typically fill up 2 1/2 months in advance, so if you are interested in any of the programs below, apply immediately to secure a place. If you are interested in programs from September onwards, please go to the above website to check dates, as we have about 5 programs every month until December.
*there are 15 english speakers and 15 Spaniards in each program*

GREDOS (country-side location- 4-star accommodation):

2 - 7 August (2 places available)
9 - 14 August (3 places available)
16 - 21 August (4 places available)
30 August - 4 Sept (4 places available)

SALAMANCA (city-center location- 4-star accommodation):

2 - 7 August (FULL)
9 - 14 August (2 places available)
16 - 24 August (5 places available)
23 - 28 August (4 places available)

The Meet ups are the place to find out more about programs in 2009, so, if you'd like to attend, but can't get to the meet up on the 6th May, just apply directly online to secure a place, and contact me on 07931 131208 - and I'll go through any questions you may have.

So join us for Sangria, meet people and 'Vaughantown veterans', and find out about this fantastic experience. All members and friends, partners and family are invited to this meet up - please do take a minute to RSVP, so I can prepare accordingly.

Cheers and see ya at the Meetup!
Ian

Great show for a Saturday, and everyone seemed keen! Thanks to Debbie, Tony Bowen, Roger, Ren, David, and Tony for coming and sharing your program experiences...Best of luck to Debbie who will be travelling to Madrid to train as a Vaughanteacher!
    •  Not a slick presentation as expected and definitely no hard sell which was good.
    •  It was a good meetup, almost too busy! I think the credit crunch has given everyone the impetus to go along!
    •  I did a whole load of research on the internet before booking on the July Gredos programme. Then I thought I'd pop along to a Meetup meeting just for reassurance that I was doing the right thing. The venue was great (Camino Bar in Kings Cross) and the turn out was impressive. So many wonderful and interesting people...I am more than convinced that this is a fabulous idea....the simplicity of it is ingenious and there are so many benefits for both Anglos and Spaniards...I'm really looking forward to the Vaughan Town experience.
    •  Each meeting seem to attract a larger diverse group of people who want to share their english with the spaniards
    •  Was very useful. Got a feel for what to expect and already a sense of camaraderie!
    •  Just what was required. Talking to a veteran answered someof my questions (such as what is the dress code?) and helped me adjust my expectations. I hadn't realised for example that some of the English speakers might be Australian. have now gona ahead and booked my hotel in Madrid and travel. I just wonder if Vaughan as a company has anything it wants to say or any direction it wants to go in. I have had some expereince of role playing job interview situations for example. Is this useful? thanks to Ian.
