MATS June Adventure Travelogue Presentation
2008 Adventure Cycling Tours in Lima, Peru

Join us on June 10th for another exciting Adventure Travelogue presentation!

UltraCycling Hall of Fame Founding Member Lon Haldeman has pushed the boundaries of Cycling on AND off the beaten path.

No stranger to adventure, Lon will recount stories of his cycling adventures in Peru and share "hands on" souvenirs from this unique country.

Presentation followed by Q&A: How He Did It; How Others Have Done It; How You Too Can Do It.

Since 1981 Lon Haldeman and his wife Susan Notorangelo have organized and ridden over seventy bicycle tours and races across the United States. For the past twenty-seven years, their business, PAC Tour (Pacific Atlantic Cycling Tours), has helped over 2,000 riders cycle across the USA.

In 1999 Lon began leading adventure cycling tours in Peru. Originally he organized bicycle tours over the Andes Mountains into the remote regions of the Amazon Rain Forest. Many of these roads had never been ridden by organized cycling groups. During Lon's travels he began to meet many local people and understand the unique culture of Peru. There were many areas without schools or facilities to help the children of the region.

Since 2004 PAC Tour began leading tours to rural schools and orphanages in the jungle to deliver supplies. Through their network of cycling friends PAC Tour has raised over $100,000 to build two new schools and stock dozens of school with books.

In addition, a video presentation detailing these projects in the remote regions of Peru will be available. This program is not just for cyclists; some of these Peruvian Cycling Adventures include:

- traveling two days on an Amazon Riverboat while delivering books to remote schools
- traveling five days by van over the 16,000 foot Andes to deliver food to an orphanage
