Think of Newport and most people think of mansions. We're planning a day trip to New Port Mansions for a group of 15-20 people, starting from Boston/Cambridge. The plan is to start roughly at 8am from central Boston/Cambridge and be back by 9:30 pm. We haven?t really figured out the age group but would recommend all ages that are fit enough to walk a lot (remember the last time you had to walk for an hour in a museum?), appreciate the rich heritage that these mansions boast of and would not mind socializing with fun, interesting people from the meetup group! And please come with a smile

We still haven't figured our meeting point, but we'll decide on the number of RSVPs and that which is most comfortable for all. Easiest would be to meet at the first venue - Breakers Mansion, parking lot.

The plan is to visit three Mansions -- Breakers, Elms, Rosecliffe till 3 pm and later on, a long walk along the legendary "Cliff Walk" until late evening, followed by dinner. To all the photographers out there, this would be a great time!

Rideshares - I live in Central square and can offer a ride for two. Please, please reply in your RSVP if you're willing to give a ride to others. And, I'm going to get my large camera gear, for those who would want a picture perfect postcard, feel free to ask me to be your photographer for the day smile

    I am a new member and I RSVP'd maybe. I learned today that my houseguests aren't leaving untill Sunday so I'm afraid I can't go. Hopefully, next time! BJ

    I was just in Newport 3 weekends ago and I love it there. Can I carpool with someone? I live in Cambridge near Mt. Auburn hospital. I'm willing to share the cost and or to drive. Hiroko, do you still have space in your car? I can meet you at Alewife station.

    One of the members mailed me for a clarification on the meeting spot and time. We're planning to leave Boston by 8am and reach Breakers by 9:30 ish at their parking lot.

    Chris - I can give you a ride. Room for only two more in backseat. I have a small car so it might not be too comfortable. I will be at the New England Medical Center T stop (orange line) on Washington Street at 8 am. Let me know.
