About The Travel & Outdoors Social Club

Our activities will vary from weekend trips away to hiking to camping to water sports. Never been kayaking? Whitewater rafting? Camping? Never traveled? No worries. No previous experience is necessary to join this meetup or to attend any of our events. This is a great way to do those activities you love but don't have people with whom to go. It's also a great way to safely try something new knowing that there are others in the group who are both experienced and inexperienced. Whenever possible and appropriate, we encourage and employ efficiency & saving money by carpooling and negotiating group rates.

The goal of this Club is for like-minded individuals to participate in activities that promote "travel" (vs. tourism) and/or "the great outdoors." Outdoor activities will be those that help us appreciate nature, wildlife, and all that the great outdoors has to offer. Listed below are examples of activities that will be scheduled:

Travel - To any destination outside of the Lehigh Valley that promotes a greater understanding of our culture (or a foreign culture) and/or an appreciation for nature and wildlife.

Outdoors - Activities that promote the enjoyment or appreciation of nature/wildlife such as tubing, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, snow tubing, skiing, camping, hiking, zip lining, etc.

Volunteerism - All kinds especially those that emphasize travel & the great outdoors.

One thing to remember is that this is your meetup. This group is strong and dynamic because of our members and their expertise and their enthusiasm. Several have offered to become Assistant Organizers and many have offered to organize individual events! These are the kind of acts that make this a great group and make it something that is not limited by any one person's expertise and resources.

We don't have any hard and fast rules but we do have some general guidelines. We ask that our members be courteous, treat each other with mutual respect and practice the Golden Rule. Some events may include alcohol. We ask that all of our members exercise discretion and ensure that they drink responsibly. Harrassment or any inappropriate or offensive behavior will not be tolerated. All members (and their guests) are expected to comply with any rules and regulations of the facilities we use.

The integrity of this Club and its purpose will be safeguarded so that all persons can have a place where they can come to and feel comfortable.

We are committed to this Club being a safe and fun place for all people to enjoy each other's company and experience what friendships, travel and the great outdoors can offer them!

This meetup will not assume responsibility for anything that happens because you decided to jump out of a perfectly good airplane, zip above the trees on a wire, raft the rapids of the river, or any other crazy thing you agree to do.
