Inaugural Meeting of Sacramento Original Travel Group

The core of this group has been meeting for some time now, but it will be good to get a new consensus on where we go from here. Here are some of the things we have been doing: exchanging information and building resources. We will designate a topic, i.e. Finding Inexpensive Airfares, usually provide a handout listing some of the more potentially useful websites and discuss it for part of the meeting. We recently have had members discuss there personal experiences on a trip to destinations of interest. These aren't meant to be travelogues but the personal touches that really make travel so fascinating. We had Karen Baumann talk about, among other things, camping in the desert on a trip to Egypt with her son and Gordon Callender talk about dealing with the Communist Bureaucracy, when he and his wife visited Cuba. We have tried to put together modest little trips for the group, only one was successful so far, a trip to L.A. and the Getty Center and Villa but it was great and we learned a lot of how to make these ventures work better. Finally we have used our members as resources on topics they have experience with, Helen gave a terrific presentation on Trip Planning and Bill did the same with Digital Travel Photography. Finally, Finally we have always shared some smiles and laughs along the way, that's probably what we do best. Well we will discuss it all on the first of March , see you there.
