Details
People often say "Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it!" In May, the SF Travel Book Club will put a twist on this old saying and explore the concept of "Be careful where you travel...you never know where it might take you!"
What happens when a vacation proves to be more than just a few weeks off? What happens if you accidentally stumble upon a greater calling in life while you're on the road?
A bit about this month's title:
"In 1993 a mountaineer named Greg Mortenson drifted into an impoverished Pakistan village in the Karakoram mountains after a failed attempt to climb K2. Moved by the inhabitants' kindness, he promised to return and build a school. Three Cups of Tea is the story of that promise and its extraordinary outcome. Over the next decade Mortenson built not just one but fifty-five schools - especially for girls - in the forbidding terrain that gave birth to the Taliban. His story is at once a riveting adventure and a testament to the power of the humanitarian spirit."
Three Cups of Tea has been ranked as a New York Times Bestseller and was awarded the 2007 Kiriyama Prize for nonfiction.
Join us in May to enjoy this inspiring true story!
